notes

I need to rework my art list but I don't have the brain power for it rn. I also don’t have a really good way to read articles rn so I want to change that too.

So I actually DID update this page about 2 days ago & somehow overwrote it which is kind of annoying...

In that last update, I changed the highlight colors and ranked all my lists:

• Custodian looks great, no notes
• Creativity could be redone. I don't like that the sub-lists have so many of the repeating items. I had an idea before where I just wrote out 100 different prompts & rolled on that, but haven't done it yet...
• Commentary DID have an update, but it's gone now... Video Games & Reading are categories I have lots of avenues for (lots of places to read, lots of different consoles) but Watching & Listening are things I do passively & don't have hubs for necessarily. For instance, I don't count Netflix & Bandcamp & Youtube even though that's what I'm doing, so instead I started listing for the latter two categories some media to intentionally watch & listen to for the month & I liked that. Of course, some of those are gone so I'll have to redo them...
• Competency just now had an update, I wanted to keep it just to online courses, but now... IDK! I don't like including books in this section because I should include books with reading but if I'm doing Cultural Months I won't be reading about skills. So maybe I should just stop being a baby & put them all together.
• Community is not really sorted great either, I only really like how the Discord one works. I'd also like to add Volunteering, Mutual Aid, or maybe other online forums ? IDK...

And obviously the character lists are great. Let me go make those changes I just talked about...

Oh wait before I do, I'm coding currently from Notepad because I tried to do it on my Desktop & it was so slow ;_; Is my code too long now...

Also note to self, I want to make this page prettier... the Sailor Moon gifs are cute, but yeah. I'm getting a bit antsy because I actually got everything on this month's list done! & I'm excited for the month to turn over but I'm trying to hold myself to the Last-First Day of September. Rahhhh

JAVASCRIPT CODE TO DO RANDOM NUMBERS PLS

2 yrs of being married btw ^_^ Yay yippee

Aiden suggested yesterday that I added a "Culture" column so I could open up my lists to Not Culture things and clear out my "Competency" column. It's a good idea except that if I rolled to Read on any of the Commentary thing I wouldn't even have a genre to look at... So basically what I'm saying is that I need to have even MORE lists lol. I don't hate how I've set up my Watchlist...

I also would like to have a 4th option for Community that ISN'T Aiden Picks lol because I know he'd uh. Do something I don't want... With that power...

So sometimes Aiden will help me, especially right now when I'm struggling with nailing down the list, but so far I like this. Sometimes I will ask him for a number when he can't see the list & when I'm not near a dice & don't want to pull up random.org (I would really like to get a random number generator in here, but that's gonna require some javascript & I have not even touched that yet...) So far he has been very good about not cheating & saying the last number which is almost always 'Aiden Decides', but this time he picked a DS game and when I off-handedly said "I think that one doesn't work" he picked another one before I could really stop him... The thing is, he started by picking Pokemon Pearl, which actually doesn't work on my 3DS any more. I thought that it was broken, but! I've recently inherited Aiden's old DS & it works fine there. I had bought the used cartridge when I was in high school, maybe, & I remembered having some issue where I couldn't go onto the next town? I don't know, but I didn't have that issue this time. Then I had a (moral) dilemma about resetting the game, but I don't really have the time for that... instead I decided to go back to the starter town in game, & that wasn't great either lol. But now I have so many games to play. I've never touched Elite Beat Agents. I think my brother gave it to me some time in the past decade, saying that I might like it since it's a rhythm game. It's pretty silly. But I am a little glad to have so many options (I'm also playing Fantasy Life i for Castor) since Pokemon Pearl is the only one I really feel comfortable without game-sound; Elite Beat Agents obviously has to have music on in order to play, requires a certain amount of focus, & can be played in short sessions; Fantasy Life i I want to be immersed & have a couple-hours session, with Dimension 20 or some podcast in the background. Aiden also keeps asking to play with me lol. Which is fine, but it makes it feel like it's not counting for my Projectlists haha.

I'd also like some way to be able to see which things I've already rolled on, in a way that's not too... obvious? Maybe italics? let's try it.

Okay because like I said I'm insane I need to rework my system entirely because it's not working.
So the main reason for this is because there are things that I want to do that will improve my life, right? There's lots of different sectors of my life specifically, but I honed them down to 5 here: Custodian, Creativity, Consumptive (need a new word), Competency, Community.

• Custodian - Administrative things like taxes, shopping, organizing & archiving... most of this list is things I don't want to do, or like to do but need to have allotted time for it.
• Creativity - All of my art goals go here. That includes drawing, writing, game-making, music, etc. It also includes character work & story stuff.
• Consumptive - Media that other people have made. Mostly this is podcasts, movies, books, video games. I noticed recently that this sector of my life is hugely overshadowing the others lol. That's part of why I'm trying to rework things to be more balanced.
• Competency - This used to just be athletics, but because I wasn't working out, I decided to include skills I want to get better at here. Maybe some variety will make it easier on me.
• Community - I'm really bad about self-isolating. Right now, I like using it to spotlight different Discord servers I haven't been active in, but I also want to include (somehow) real life organizations.

Like many humans in the world, there is a large amount of things that I want to accomplish & get done. I make lists of these things. But because there is something wrong with me, I categorize the items, separate them, & then roll a die to figure out which thing I am working on for weeks/months at a time.

However, I need to rework my system a little bit. I had five different lists I was rolling on, but I was also using my Cultural Months list, which made things super complicated... I've been prioritizing the Cultural Months over my own things.

Maybe I should rephrase these as 'Challenges' or 'Achievements' and keep a running list of accomplishments? That'd be cute to lower the obligation and also gamify it a little bit. However, there's stuff that I accomplished that aren't on my lists, like getting published lol. Hmmmmm... What about like a bingo board? But what's the reward if I finish? Honestly, I thought that since I had the summer off, I'd be real productive with these things, but instead my mental illness has relieved itself enough that I actually have things I want to do lol.

Anyways, I need to rewrite what even goes on my list. Will come back to this later...
